I also have one more window to do and it will be "An Old Fashioned Christmas" need to get started on that. I don't think I posted my window, it was pre-blog.......

I hope that the 4th time is a charm.................went back to the Osteopath yesterday and got my hip placed back in. Didn't leave his office until I bought a velcro belt. He says that sometimes the belt helps but if I go out again it won't help. I asked "what's next ?", he said that he would get a second opinion within his group, that sometimes they have different techniques. So that's next and if all else fails I'll have to get shots to mend the joints together, but that's the last resort! I just want to be normal again, whatever that is........

Breaking news! McCain has picked a running mate, today on his birthday.......and it's Sarah Palin, yes a woman! She's the govinator of Alaska. She's a young, pistol packing, hockey mom of 5! She has been the governor since '06 and has cleaned up the state. She got rid of the state jet and vehicles, rides commercial, drives her own car. She's a "real" woman not a politician. This should make the race pretty interesting now. So y'all...............there's a woman on the ticket!

Well, he had just gotten back from hunting and of course dropped it off (thankfully) before he hit the porch. My baby is incredible for his age, 8 1/2 years. So Shadow is my solution to getting rid of squirrels, but I am still going to check in Grandma's Critter Ridder since he has to slow down sometime!

Well, this pretty much was my weekend, Saturday and Sunday. Happy to report I'm almost done sanding and will be on to priming soon, whoopee!
Pete on the other hand is getting ready to buy MORE rock so that he can make it around the corner and then he will backfill the wall! Yeah, almost there! He's hoping for a little help sometime in September (hint, hint and no it's not Rocky).

This is for my friends with "raccoon" problems.

Grandma's Critter Ridder says...........if you put hydrated lime around your garbage cans the raccoons will stay away.
Another tip......place a little ammonia, Lysol or any hot sauce on the lids.
Another tip.............don't know if you're neighbors would appreciate this (if you have neighbors). Place old, smelly clothes on your fence or post staked near their entry point and it will repel them, they do not like human scent.

I wore out the grips on my old pilates machine. I duck-taped them but I was starting to break through the duck tape and thought it was time to start looking for a new (used) machine. It all started with someone at work selling one at a garage sale. I went to check it out but it was a much older model and I wanted something newer. I checked Craig's List and there was one for sale in Medford, for $100.00. I called and she said she would sell it for $50.00 she was moving and needed to get rid of it now. It had only been used once and it still had the plastic on the bottom of it!

I like it but have to get used to it since it is a different set up than my old machine (which I also purchased at a garage sale for $40., I think I got my $40.00 worth out of that one!) Either way I can't live without having one. Next time I want the one from QVC, watch out Pete, gonna cost you some $$$$!

If you heard a lot of whooping and hollering in the Valley last night it was us, at the Daedulus Project Variety Show (Aids Fundraiser) in the Elizabethan. It was the 21st year of the Fundraiser and as soon as I hear how much was raised I will let you know. It was a great show, enjoyed by all for a very worthy cause. I'm sure Laura and Audrey are talking about it on their blog's. It was soooo much fun.

It was a little scary because of the rain but it didn't stop people from showing up at the theatre, it was almost sold out! Like magic the rain stopped about 7:10pm just in time for the show at 7:30pm - no rain on our parade!

Happy Birthday to my dear husband, Pete and many, many more!

Update: No lake today, looks like thunderstorms. Look for my review tomorrow on "Tropic Thunder", heading out to the movie theatre!

Michael Phelps.......what else can I say? He's absolutely AMAZING! 8 Gold Medals, 7 World Records! Move over Mark Spitz, Michael Phelps has surpassed you. Mark Spitz said he is ready and would be happy for someone else to take over the "throne". Got home last night in time to see him get the last medal!

These are old pics from last Labor Day but I thought I would post them today since we are heading to Howard Prairie to cool off. Tomorrow is Pete's birthday and we will be celebrating today and he would like a day at the Lake. I can't believe we are close to the end of the Summer and this is the first time we've gone to the lake! Before you know it we'll be cutting the Christmas tree!

I realized that I didn't post anything when Rocky went to Boy Scout Camp or when we picked him up. He accomplished a few merit badges while there. It rained everyday, except for one. The food was okay, not the best, but not the worst (he had that one year). He actually took a couple of showers while there! The showers and baths were nice compared to other camps. He was happy to be done with the other scouts and on to his vacation in Seattle.

This will probably be his last Boy Scout camp. He hopes to have his Eagle Project done sometime this year.

THE WALL

It's coming along and I hope that it will be done this Fall including back-filling of the wall. Pete is going around the back of the garage now. I really want to plant next Spring and from the looks of it, it might not happen. After the walls come paths (front and back) and flagstone in the backyard (that's a lot of flagstone).

This is the banner I made for the 4th of July parade. Karen Delsman made the banner out of muslin and I cut the letters on my cricut! It actually needed to be weighted a little. You can't see it that well but I drew tomatoes with stems and scattered them here and there. For inquiring minds: I wonder-undered the fabric and put it on my mat, the mat was very sticky. It cut really well but I went through the blade fast, so a new blade would work best. I ironed on the letters and then sewed a small zigzag stitch so that is was very secure.

Hope you are all watching the Olympics or part of it. The opening ceremony really was spectacular, China went all out! If you didn't see the swimmers last night you really missed out on some incredible coups! I was getting a little tired and wanted to watch the rest of it in bed. I was nodding a little during the men's relay (you know France said "we are here to smash the Americans!")and woke up to all the yelling and caught when they won and won we did, by a hair! Unbelievable! Pete and I both bolted up in bed screaming with the crowds. It was quite a feat! I'm sure you will see a repeat because even the commentators were predicting that France would win, there was no way we could make it.
On the other hand our female gymnasts are not doing that well. We definitely need another Mary Lou!

You can't go to Seattle and not hit the Market! We met the Briscoe/Biggar family there for breakfast and browsing. When we arrived Ethyn was at the Russian bakery picking up some freshly baked goodies for us, what a kid! The crowds were thick but we made it through! The flowers and produce amazing. You can pick up a beautiful array of flowers for just $10.00! After much eating and browsing we kidnapped Ethyn and took him with us to The "Experience Music Project" (EMP) and the "Science Fiction Museum", which was great. When we were all done we went to the Briscoe/Biggar familie's home for a great dinner!

Then we picked up the kid and headed to Port Ludlow to see Jan Tanskley and James Tanskley (son). Now I understand why Jan lives in Port Ludlow. I didn't really get any pictures of Port Ludlow but believe me when I tell you it is picturesque and adorable. We stopped at the Spruce Goose Cafe (friends of Jan own it) and had wonderful pie! Made our way onto Port Townsend to meet up with James and girlfriend, Lela. Another cute town with lots of great shops and restaurants. We drove up to Fort Worden, where "An Officer and A Gentlemen" was filmed and checked out the Coast and old bunkers. We finished our visit with GREAT BBQ at a restaurant heading out of town (another one of Jan's friends). It was great to see Jan, we hadn't seen her in a long time, she moved to Port Ludlow in '94.

It all started with us (Pete and I).............at least until Friday night. We arrived on Thursday, early afternoon. The weather was cool and misty and the heavens opened up that night. The next morning cloudy and misty but we headed to Snoqualmie to check out the falls. What a cute town, average high in the Summer is 75! Had a wonderful latte at the local coffee shop before we ventured to see the falls. If you remember the show "Twin Peaks", it was filmed here.
