Hoping to be doing more of this tomorrow.  Planning on going to the other farm since "Blue Collar" only had what you see pictured above (almost all green berries).  The one nice thing about "Blue Collar" is that they supply belts and you can tie a container around your waist and it leaves you hands free.  Think I need to cut up some containers and pull out some belts tonight since we need to get there by 6:30am to line up.  The other good thing about the other farm is that they open at 7am and it's hard to find unless you know about it. 
Pete and I really need to pick a good 20 lbs.  We will be freezing for days!   Then next month - BLACKBERRIES!  That's for free just down the road from the house :)

Update.......we made it and I could not believe how loaded the bushes were!!!!!  In 2 hours we picked a little over 10 lbs. (are you kidding me, that's all).  We need at least 10 lbs. more but I don't think I have another Saturday morning in me. I need to sleep in.  Looks like I'll be looking for some great sales and buying them in the stores!  

Bittersweet...........

This is was Shadow's bed.  Annie finally discovered it.  If I'm in the bedroom and busy with something she will occassionally go lay on it.  I took these photos the first time I saw her on it. 

Of course she sleeps with us and does not really use it as a "go to sleep, all night bed", that's why she has our bed - lol! 

The fabric for my niece's quilt, although it looks a little on the brown side, it's more eggplant.

Momentous occasion, I have finally started working on the chair again, okay, only one, but that's a start.

I starting painting it on Saturday, of course it got to hot for me to go back in the garage so........to be continued this Saturday.

Pete and I got up super early on Saturday with all intentions of blueberry picking.  We arrived at the farm at 7am and people were leaving with full containers.  Hard to believe we were too late!  People were picking in the dark, not very much left, except green berries..  I think we might have picked a pound. Looks like we will be back this Saturday but, a little earlier.  We're going back to the other farm that we like just a little better that opens at 7am, but we'll get there before so we can get on line :)

It wasn't a total bust because on the way back we took Annie to Emigrant Lake to swim a little. 

So lucky to have 2 blueberry farms and a lake about 10 minutes from the house. 

Projects, projects, projects!  Don't think I ever posted a photo of the quilt I made for df Anita's daughter, Whitney, or as Pete likes to call her WHIT-KNEE (make sure you say it loud, too).  She wanted an espresso border since her baby room colors are pink and espresso.  I used my favorite pattern "Yellow Brick Road" (an Atchinson design) for this.  I have made many quilts from this pattern.  First - it's a "fat quarter" pattern: a few fat quarters, yardage for border, binding and backing and you're done.  Second - it's quick!  My goal one of these days is to make one in neutrals for MYSELF! 
Last night I started cutting another Atchinson design pattern, "Slide Show" (never made one before) for Pete's niece, Justine, who will be wed October 23rd.  Need to take a photo of the fabric, very nice, deep purples................
As much as I have many quilts sitting there to be put together, there is always a gift to make for someone in the family.  I still have 2 more "girl" quilts to make for my nephew Trevor's girls. 

As for the chairs.................my goal is to get one done this weekend, but it looks like things to do this weekend are piling up.  We'll see.

(note:  the espresso fabric was corduroy, as much as I love corduroy, I will never use it again in a quilt: it was very messy, i.e. shedding.)

Busy week, trying to get caught up and appointments, not to mention..........puppy!   Tonight, laundry, sounds exciting, huh?

Sunday at 11am Annie and I went to our first Dog Obedience class.  She was very good and the teacher used her first to demonstrate teaching her "sit", but she already had that down, so it was a quick demo.  She also has "down" down. Now, the only bad part of the lesson was her aggression on the leash!  The trainer said it was common and we WILL work on it.  I will have a spray bottle on Sunday (next lesson) to discourage her.  She is fine off leash, but on, not so good. 

The best part was that she was not the worst, there was a daschund mix (mostly daschund) that they had to put a barrier around and drape fabric over the sides so he didn't see his neighbors - lol!

 

Out of commission because I took a couple of vacation days and we went to the Metolious River in Central Oregon.  A couple of years ago, while in Sisters, Oregon we drove around the area and knew we wanted to come back.  After a little research on the good 'ole internet, I found a few campgrounds on the Metolious.   Wow, what a beautiful place!   We left on Tuesday late morning and after going through a few campgrounds, found one we really liked and found a primo spot!!  The sites at this campground were spacious, your neighbor was not on top of you (something we like) and the site we got was right on the river and only one neighbor that we could really see.  

My goal on this trip was to finishing reading one book and start another - check!  Lots of resting - check! 

Rocky is at those teen years and is not interesting in camping at all, lucky he bought the little portable player so he could catch up on all his DVD's that and lots of naps.

Annie had a great time.  Whenever we found a calm little pool of water (the river was running hard) we'd let her in.  We went to Suttle Lake on Thursday so that she and Rocky could get in some swimming time.  

Pete and I took a nice hike with Annie, one day and Pete actually did that hike a few more times with her while I read.

It was so beautiful there, we will definitely go back!

Out of commission for a few days will share soon.......

As many of you are aware, I finally got a replacement car!   Pete found it on-line, one owner, 2007, 43,000 miles: newer than my CRV and less mileage.  We were holding out hoping that's what we could find.  He finally settled with the insurance company and all we had to throw in was under $1,000. and that's what we had planned on.

Pete had to drive to Auburn, CA (close to Sacramento) to purchase it and he had to pick it up in Reno to avoid taxes (crazy set-up, they had someone drive it there and then he could take ownership, after signing necessary documentation).

To make a long story short.......when he was leaving Reno, he drove under an over-pass and someone threw something at my NEW CAR!  Whatever it was it put a deep gouge on the hood and broke the windshield (photo #2).

And so.......a new insurance claim, but with my insurance this time!  Luckily they came through quickly and next Tuesday we're dropping it off to get repaired. 

Other than that, it is a sweet little ride.  A few upgrades, rides smoother and looks pretty cool too!

Hopefully the bad "car carma" has gone totally away!

One of these days................

Well, I have it all torn apart, I just need a whole day and I can get one of these darn chairs done!   There is always something to do.  I am definitely done with landscaping, especially now that the heat is here.  I really planned on working on this chair one day this past weekend but life got in the way. 

I really want to complete one before my company comes the end of the month. 

Annie's foster mom was going to be in the area so we made a date to meet at a park in Grants Pass so Annie and her foster brother, Rafy could play.  Unfortunately, I didn't get a great shot of Rafy because he sure is a cutie!

They had a great time and really tired themselves out while we visited. 

Afterwards Pete, Rocky, Annie and I went into town to have lunch and to browse the shops.  Stopped by the scrapbook store and Rocky and I stopped by a couple of antiques stores while Pete and Annie sat on a bench.

No special plans this weekend.  

TGIF at Anita's with friends (last night).

Going to Grants Pass today to meet up with Annie's foster mom and her golden, a little play date.

Of course tomorrow is the big parade and guess who is in it?  Me!  OSF is celebrating their 75th anniversary and they needed 75 volunteers to wear hats (from previous costumes) and carry shields, each one representing the shows throughout the 75 years (I requested my birth year, hope I get it). Should be fun. 

The town has been buzzing with tourist since Monday!  If you don't need to go to Ashland for anything, don't (unless you're going to the parade).  We usually get over 50,000 visitors for this weekend.  

On Monday, OSF is having a big celebration (company members only) to celebrate the 75th: a show, food and drinks after.

Harry and David has donated, something new for them, cupcakes with a logo (ours or theirs, not sure) for the weekend, over 3,500 of them to be exact.  They are be handed out Friday, Sat., and Sunday evening in the Elizabethan theater.

Always something to do when you have acreage. 

 Pete switches back and forth between the mower and his 1952 tractor, that runs like a champ (according to him). 

Right below our porch we have some big planters that have ornamental trees but not bushes, etc.  (that's the next phase of landscaping, Spring 2011) and then below those is this field.  Pete has it mowed down nicely so when Annie is running down there we can actually see her. 

It took him about 3 days to mow the areas around the house that we like to keep low. 

When he bought the tractor Rocky and I got him some "bib" overalls as a gift!
