Certifications

On my way to being certified for a "food handlers" and "OLCC*" license.  Starting with the food handlers' because I don't need a proctor and it's the shortest test.  The other is longer and I need someone there to "monitor" me.

Update:  Took the Food Handlers' today and passed that!  So, I am well on my way!!!! Thursday is my first day shadowing Cathy (lounge supervisor).

Happy Opening!!!!

It's officially opening day of the 4 new shows, previews started last Friday. 

 This is the first year that I actually went to see two previews; The White Snake and Romeo and Juliet.  Since mom is still here I took her with me and she loved both.  It was her first production of R&J!

There will be a big gala for our "big" donors at the Ashland Springs Hotel and I will be helping out with name badges, etc.

I will not stay for the festivities*, but I did have a part of the "tasting" of the meal, which was fabulous!!!!

*Actually did stay since one person cancelled from a smaller table.  Had a great meal and wine, talked to a couple of nice donors.....



A little home dec

Confession, I bought the black vinyl last year, at Michaels!!! 

 I was a little intimated by the process and at one point thought I would just buy something on "Etsy."  Got brave last week and made a paper template to judge the size, then I cut out the vinyl on my CRICUT, yes, my Cricut and all was well!

A lot easier than I thought and I think it looks great.

Hmmmm, I wonder where else I can put something?

Saving Money

Every once in while, you have to re-evaluate your expenses, especially with a kid in college.

This has been our year to look into our expenses.

We changed our home and car insurance a few months ago and we told "Dish" they can take their dishes and ................ "Dish" cut a great deal with us, so we're still with them.  

Now Pete has found us a new Propane distributor.

We've been loyal Surburban Propane customers for the past 7 years, but this year they did not want to give us a break.  Our last fill was at $4.98/gallon.  I told Pete, no way, we had to do something.

On Monday, when I was driving to work I passed the "Ferrell Gas" truck on our road, they were on their way to set us up, new tank, etc. 

So we now welcome Ferrell Gas into our lives.  If they decide in a few years they don't want to work with us, we will be moving on again!

Another quilt - my quilt

I've made quite a few quilts for myself, lap quilts, one for Rocky's bed, and many wall hangings, but I've never made one for my bed.  I still have one great niece left that doesn't have a quilt, but I thought before I made that one I'd make one for myself...........yeah, I know a little selfish, but I'm going for it!!!!!

I had thought about making a neutral log cabin quilt for my bed, years ago, before I moved to Oregon!  In the interest of time and using what I have, I decided to make my favorite fat quarter quilt.........yes, The Yellow Brick Road!  It takes 48 fat quarters for a King size quilt, so I raided my "stash", and had quite a few neutrals, I only had to add about 6.

I also decided to trim the scraps because the big border will be all neutral scraps, different sizes.  I was inspired by a couple of quilts I saw at Martha's (longarm quilter) workshop.

I finished cutting last night and hope to start next week. 

I finished trimming Sofia's quilt and now need to add the binding, add a label and send it off. 

So in between scrapbooking, etc. a little sewing.......

Lounge Lizard

Not official yet, but close......starting March 1st, I'll be slinging coffee, wine and beer in our Members' Lounge.  One day, a week through the Season. 

March 1st, I'll be training with Cathy Carrier, Head Lounge Lizard.

Although, I worked in the same building and supported those guys a little, I never really did any of what they did.  Usually they would send folks over to my desk for answers they didn't have.

Now that, that area is officially closed off to the public they've been stressing a little because I won't be there.

Hopefully, this will make the transition a little better for them.

Hopefully, this will make my medical insurance, cheaper, at least until October!



weather

I have to say that this has been the mildest Winter ever.  I actually thought it was unseasonably warm and it's not.  We're actually right where we should be for this time of year, I've just never experienced a real Southern Oregon Winter!   

I feel like I should be outside doing some gardening, and maybe I will get out a little this weekend to start a little clean-up.  

So, don't be fooled by my "Winter" header, it's just photos from last year.  No snow in the forecast and we really haven't had that much rain! We certainly are looking forward to it, so that we have a good Summer.

Pete's Kindle Fire

For Christmas Pete got a Kindle Fire............here is his Fire "holder".  Just thought I would share how ingenious my hubby is.

I am planning on making him a nicer cover, but what do you think?
