It is early for tee shirts, but I grab them when I see them........
Found this cute tee at Walmart for $7.00!  Bought 2, white and turquoise.
Okay, here's my secret, I buy all my tee shirts in Walmart, why?.....I particularly like to wear white tee shirts in the spring and summer so I head to Walmart and buy a couple for $5.00 (Hanes), they usually change the style a little every year.  My thoughts are - white, how long will it stay white, how long will I not stain it?  When they stain, or get dingy, they become a "house" shirt, I use them in the house and when I work in the garden, etc., I go to Walmart and buy a new one, why not?, they're only 5 bucks!
This is a really cute one and I might go back and buy another..........

Somebody likes loves the snow!
I also took her out when I got home from work for about 20 minutes, she I walked around the property while she ran up, down and all around.

Snowed Wednesday night and woke up to the snow you see, it snowed throughout Thursday but didn't start sticking until late in the day.  It will start warming up tomorrow so it won't stick around too long.

We were having a very warm winter and I knew it would catch up sooner or later.

I had extra photos of Shadow hanging around and a mixed media scalloped album = a "Shadow" album. Started it a while ago.
Also, put away around 30 layouts in albums, re-organized a few supplies (quite a few, I had stored in an acrylic box from previous projects I've worked on).  I'm almost ready to start ITALY!!!!

This is right now..........
Snow was predicted, especially for the mountains and some on the valley floor, but.................it won't stay around, not cold enough.   That's the beauty of living in Southern Oregon, mild winters - so nice!

Running to the Jackson County Animal Shelter to get Annie's nails cut (that should traumatize her for the day) and to do a home visit up in the hills of Jacksonville.  I've already done a home visit for this couple back in the fall of '09 but now is when they are ready to adopt and the rescue likes to check things out to make sure there haven't been too many changes.  This one will be a visit because Evelyn and I have chatted, I feel like she and Louis are old friends, a great young senior couple, their standard poodle just passed away and they're ready for their golden.
The last time I visited them they couldn't wait and had adopted a golden from the shelter named Sam.  So mom, Annie and I are going to pay them a visit and have a "spot of tea", since the only thing that has changed is Bonnie passed away and Evelyn and Louis had to spend a fortune on new fencing for Sam.
After I'll take mom into Medford to hunt for a new phone..........back home to smoked mozzarella sandwiches and spinach salad (took a little time this week to plan this weekend's menu).

First.......excuse my messy garage.  The pile in front of the NEW bike is getting ready to go......
I have been searching for a beach cruiser for a couple of years now on Craigslist and finally I hit something.  First they are hard to find here in Southern Oregon since the weather is conducive to lots of outdoor activities and there are many bikers here.
I called a guy a couple of weeks ago in Central Point because he had a nice bike for sale.  First, it was a Monday and I probably couldn't make it out there until Saturday to see it, he said it would probably be gone because his bikes go fast.........so I let it go.  I contacted him on Monday again to ask if he had anything and he said he had a couple.  Pete said he would run over and check it out for me, he did and he ended up coming home with the more expensive one (he,he).  He said the $80. one was really "used".  The one we bought was probably never used, the tires still have the fuzz on them, can you believe it?  That's what the guy (David) told me, he said it looked like it just came out of the box.  Of course someone can say that but, you have to see it to believe it, sooo........
Every since I got the new hip I have wanted to go back to doing more outdoor activities, like biking, downhill skiing, (want to learn how to) cross country ski and I want to snowshoe.  So, I am on my way................yeh!!!!!

If you are a fan of dog shows, last night The Westminster held their "Best of Show" and the Scottish Deerhound (which I never heard of) won!  Actually there were a couple of new breeds to me................
Here is the press release......http://voices.washingtonpost.com/blog-post/2011/02/scottish_deerhound_wins_at_wes.html.
I wanted the bearded collie (absolutely beautiful), Mr. Baggins, to win, but I must admit "Hickory" was a beauty and the favorite.

The "cheaters" red velvet cupcakes were pretty good.

Here's the recipe:

1 - 18.25 oz. Duncan Hines Red Velvet Cake mix
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup canola oil
4 eggs
Preheat oven to 350.  Line 24 baking cups with liners.

Add the first three ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Beat with an electric mixer on low to medium speed until moistened, about 30 seconds. Add eggs one at a time, until the batter is well-mixed. Increase speed to high and beat until thick, 2 minutes longer.

Pour or scoop the batter into the paper liners until they are 3/4 full. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Remove from oven and let cupcakes cool on a wire rack.
Frost with your favorite cream cheese frosting.......

Red Velvet Cupcakes

As some of you may know I love making enhanced recipes with cake mixes, especially when I'm short on time and during the work week.  Found this recipe (ugh, forgot which blog it came from) for Red Velvet cupcakes.  The blogger posted a recipe from scratch and a recipe with the Duncan Hines Red Velvet Cake Mix and said she really did not taste much of a difference, sooooo here I go.  The true test will be tomorrow when I bring them to the Library crop (I'll leave it to the experts).  The cupcakes are all baked and tonight I'll frost with cream cheese frosting (from scratch).  I have so given up using store bought frosting when frosting from scratch is easier and much tastier.

(If I find the blog, I will post the link later)

Avon calling

For a couple of years, I have been on a search for a good eye cream AND have tried many.  For the past month I have gone back to an old, semi-reliable source............AVON (no, I'm not selling it).  I am not one to use things because a celebrity has endorsed it, believe me (I have been boycotting "Martha" because I don't think she needs anymore money).

I did happen to catch Jacqueline Bisset on the morning show and I was somewhat taken with her honesty.  She was endorsing a movie but also talked about the "Anew" Avon product line that she does endorse.  She has not tried plastic surgery and says she is not "into it". I really think she is a more natural beauty and (wait for it) looks good for her age (isn't that what everyone says when you're older - he,he) She says she is really taken with this line and personally does use it.
I had been toying with the idea of trying some of it and when I heard her talking I thought I'd go for it!
I really did not want to spend a fortune on something I wasn't really sure about (although Avon will take it back if you are unhappy).  Well, lo and behold there was a "try me" kit - yeh!   The try me kit actually had a full size "eye system" included.  I have to say I'm loving it.
I was also in the market for a new moisturizer too and I'm very pleased with the whole line.

If you want to take their Anti-aging skin care regime, go here to take their quiz Avon on-line.

(This is just an FYI, I'm not selling or endorsing these products.)

Valentine treats - brownies

In case you're looking for some great valentine treats here are a couple of links :

Brownie Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies  (yes, you read right)

Also, if you go into a couple of older posts on Audrey's blog, you'll find a great brownie recipe (which I'm planning on trying this week).  I almost had a brownie thing going there until I threw in Audrey's pops!  Either way, enjoy!!!!

Good luck!!!!!
If anyone is looking for quilts to warm up those "walls" (or throw on a couch), check out Craigslist.....I've put about 3 on there to sell, very cheap!!!  Had these hanging on my walls in Henderson and now I don't need them since I make my own.  They are not huge, but nice and in excellent shape. One is mostly all in greens, a green and gold, and one is green and blues.
Still working on making space...........
